Job Description

As the Area Director of HR, you will oversee HR functions at your assigned property while offering strategic support to HR leaders across multiple locations.

Your objective is to cultivate an environment where both colleagues and guests experience “Treasured Time,” ensuring a harmonious, dynamic, and compliant workplace.

Operating from the property, you will work closely with the respective Area Vice President to develop and execute talent strategies, boost employee engagement, and align HR practices with business objectives. Additionally, you will mentor HR leaders in your area, fostering a cohesive and effective human resources approach across the area.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee HR Operations at Property and Area: Manage HR functions at your property, ensuring effective execution of HR processes and strategies. Extend oversight to ensure consistent practices across the area.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across the area: Foster active communication and collaboration across the portfolio of hotels to create a culture of Team Spirit and mutual support beyond hotel borders.
  • Provide Strategic Support to HR Leaders: Offer strategic support and mentorship to HR leaders at various properties, ensuring alignment with regional and organizational goals.
  • Develop Teams and Foster Talent Growth: Mentor and support teams to foster excellence and high performance, while facilitating development and succession planning for key positions.
  • Lead Talent Acquisition and Development: Direct recruitment activities at your property to meet specific needs while supporting regional talent acquisition goals.
  • Oversee Learning & Development: Collaborate with the Learning & Development leader to manage and enhance training programs that improve colleagues’ skills and support leadership development throughout the area. 
  • Drive Colleagues’ Engagement and Retention: Implement engagement initiatives at your property and in the area to improve team morale and create a positive work environment. Support regional programs aimed at enhancing overall colleague engagement and retention.
  • Address Employee Relations Issues: Handle employee relations matter at your property, fostering a positive work culture. Offer support for complex HR issues across the area.
  • Support Compensation and Benefits Administration: Assist the corporate office by ensuring timely completion and submission of compensation and benefits surveys within the area. Provide essential data and insights to support effective compensation and benefits administration, aligning with corporate standards and regional practices.
  • Manage Performance Reviews: Carry out performance evaluations at your property, providing constructive feedback and development plans. Guide HR leaders on performance management practices throughout the area.
  • Ensure Compliance and HR Excellence: Ensure that all HR practices at your property adhere to local labour laws and corporate standards and oversee compliance across the area.Uphold high standards of company policies, industry regulations, and safety practices, ensuring consistency and compliance across all properties.
  • Collaborate on Policy Implementation: Work with corporate HR to roll out new policies and procedures at your property and support the implementation of regional initiatives that align with business strategies and uphold HR best practices.
  • Support Pre-Opening Properties: Offer guidance and support for pre-opening properties through regular calls and follow-ups. Ensure that recruitment and onboarding processes are effectively established and that properties are aligned with critical paths, meeting all requirements to be ready for their opening dates.

Skills

Education, Qualifications & Experiences

You should have a university degree in a related discipline / or professional HR designation with a minimum of 5 years experiences in a similar role. You must be a computer literate with a proficiency in a computerized payroll system and fluent in English. Previous gulf experiences are preferred and a track record of career progress and stability is an essential.
